  1. A Little Bit of Good Is Always Worth It

Dope: I love the idea of bringing together creatives for a 72-hour design sprint to help out nonprofits on their new branding/website/etc. projects. I’ve always wanted to be a part of something like this and help out companies who wouldn’t normally be able to afford a whole new redesign. Plus, getting to collaborate with other creatives in your field is too dope.

  2. Have a Free Freelancer Contract Template

Dope: I can’t stress how important it is to have a contract whenever you do work, especially for freelancing. A lot of different apps are available now, but they all cost money. This is a FREE template and it really is a great foundation for a freelancer to start creating + sending out their own contracts.

  3. Warren Buffett: 'Don't ask the barber whether you need a haircut'

Dope: “Whether you're buying a stock or a house or a business, the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway advises to do your own research. Don't trust the "experts."” I think this is important for a couple reasons. One being that you have to do your own research and can’t solely rely on an expert to tell you if this is a good or bad idea, especially when they have a vested interest. Two, I believe Mr. Buffett is also advising people to trust their gut more. If the move, purchase, etc. makes sense, then do it. Trust your own intuition.

  4. Microsoft: We All Win

Very Dope: Being born with one hand, I can really relate to this video + message. Especially the struggle of playing video games the “traditional way,” and having to adapt and make it work. This is super dope, and I can’t thank Microsoft enough for this. Even if I like the PS4 better (haha).

  5. Clean Slate Swap Meet

Dope: My friend Veeej helped start this in San Diego. Building community through a swap meet where attendees who are interested in a good deal come out and support small businesses and shop local.

  6. Each One Teach One: Giving Back To The San Diego Creative Community

Dope: Another super dope community initiative here in SD where experts in their field held workshops for inspiring creatives in design, music production, blogging, etc. I was fortunate enough to co-lecture their Website Design & UX class alongside the ever talented Courtney Wall. This was one of the coolest experiences I have ever gotten to be a part of. More events like this please!

  7. Aeromexico DNA AD! Travel to Mexico!

Dope: A clever way to show white people that Mexico is a great place to travel to.
